Remembering that We're in Plato's Cave, tho we're making it Easier-&-Easier to Forget

You know "The Allegory of the Cave"---philosopher Plato's proposal that we are all chained to the wall of a cave (forced to sit facing the wall), so 'all we know from the outside world' is what visitors 'tell us' (mostly just 'what they indicate by shadows they make on the wall'). Nowadays we've gained a pinch of mobility, so that we can crane our necks to see-THE WHOLE BACKWALL and -a little bit of each of the side-walls---and there's enough there to keep us occupied enough that we don't need any more 'world' to think about. There are even 'cave-wall specialists' to show us "which sections of wall we need to look at" & "which sections we can ignore" (e.g. MSNBC helps us ignore Ukraine & pay attention to the Jan. 6 Riot-Hearings, FOX NEWS helps us ... ignore both? I don't know; I'm from the former camp).
