I enjoy watching old movies and TV shows

I grew up watching old movies with my dad. My mom loved telling her friends about the movies and TV shows I watched because back in the 90s most kids didn't want to watch older movies and TV shows. Don't get me wrong I still watched newer shows and movies but I really loved the older movies and shows. My first crush was on Desi Arnaz never mind that he died before I was born but that didn't seem to matter when I was younger. I remember also having a crush on William Holden. I watched "Sabrina" (spoiler alert if you haven't seen the movie and want to I wouldn't read until the next paragraph) with Humphrey Bogart and William Holden over and over and always upset Holden didn't get the girl. I remember another couple of my favorite movies were "Yours, Mine, and Ours" with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda and "The Seven Little Foys" with Bob Hope. I loved a good Bob Hope movie and actually watched "Eight on the Lam" today with my son which he loved and laughed at. I also loved Doris Day movies. I loved a good musical from an early age when I would watch "Peter Pan" with Mary Martin and "Wizard of Oz" on repeat. When I discovered Cary Grant and Gene Kelly I think I watched almost everything they ever made that I could get my hands on and to this day they each only have a few movies I haven't seen because I wasn't able to find them. To this day I will sit and watch a good old movie. I still don't care much for westerns thanks to my dad's obsession when I was a kid. I just never cared for them. I have always had an odd taste in movies and music in comparison to most people my age. I tried getting my son to watch "The Pajama Game" with me the other night and he had zero interest and neither did my husband. I did get my husband to watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with me and he loved it. He has loved almost every old movie I've made him watch but he always puts up a big fight when I try to get him to watch a musical never mind the fact that he always ends up liking them. I am not going to give up on getting him to watch "The Pajama Game" with me. He has liked all of the Doris Day movies I've made him watch so I don't think this will be any different. My husband admits I'm better at picking movies than he is and usually allows me to pick most of the movies for our movie nights but at the same time always goes in reluctantly. When I want a good family friendly movie I usually choose an older movie. "That touch of mink" and "Father Goose" being a couple of them. We have also watched "Houseboat". My son wouldn't be into a few of the other ones I could think of. He did love "The Sound of Music" which surprised me because he isn't into many musicals. I tried getting him to watch "Wizard of Oz" a few times but he just doesn't care to try watching it. He didn't care for "Singin' in the Rain" but seemed to like "Anchors Aweigh". I'm still thinking of some good older movies for family night. My son refuses to watch black and white movies. I think I may need to come up with a list for us to get through eventually.

Our TV stations sometimes show very old movies in which most of the artists already passed away.

That's a good portion of the movies I watch and watched as a child. Most of my favorite actors aren't even alive.
