Do humans have a destructive nature?

Do we instinctively accept that we’re mortals and death is inevitable that’s why we go on our destructive ways?
We keep drinking alcohol even when we know it would eventually destroy our liver and make us unhealthy. We smoke and take in drugs although we know they’re destructive to our lungs, organs, and minds.
We’re lazy to exercise although we know this action is good for us. We eat unhealthy tasty foods even though we know they’re actually ‘poisons.’
We destroy and pollute our rivers, forests, and environment, by throwing trash anywhere we want to and spreading our infectious diseases carelessly. We wage war against each other with our indifference and against other countries because we want dominance.
Is it our natural instinct or it is simply because we’re resigned to our fate that we will face death eventually in the end, no matter what we do?
I know many of us still try our darnedest best to live our life fully and healthily although we know death awaits us.
Some beings outside of our planet must be having fun watching us scramble like ants atop each other just to survive. But we die in the end just the same.
What are your thoughts on this?

I understood from interviews from celebrities active and retired from their profession that due to the stress of fame working to earn a living, they tend to suffer depression to the point where they want to end their mad world they live in.

Yes, human nature has the evil side, but there are lots of decent people who live in a responsible manner, helping others and even risking their life to save others.

I often think we may look like a bunch of ants to aliens.
