What WERE those 'Trumpists' (''Proud Boys,'' ''Oath Keepers'') Thinking?

Some thoughts while I watch MSNBC's "commentary" on the House-investigation of the January 6th 'Riot' (MSNBC wants to call it an "insurrection," but that hits me as 'overblowing it'---like 'calling the defense-team on a kiddie football-team "a lynch mob" ') I hear them talking about how people planning the riot KNEW they were planning acts-of-treason, and (& don't think I'm praising the rioters for this) I'm reminded how--when America's Founding Fathers signed The Declaration of Independence--they knew they were "committing an act of treason against The Crown!" I also want to repeat that--tho I'm sure they wouldn't have rioted if 'the Oaf of Office' hadn't encouraged it, and he could've stopped them at any time during the "187 minutes" the riot was raging when he did nothing (but call for nefarious help)--he didn't FORCE any of them to do anything. Sure, they thought he approved of it (not to say he DID approve of it); but they CHOSE to riot. What I think they were thinking: They have a skewed view of democracy (small 'd' to differentiate it from 'the Democratic Party')---like it means 'the one I voted-for becomes our leader, or else this country is my enemy!' Luckily, that's NOT the definition we use. Our system is actually "a democratic republic"; but we CALL IT democracy (the same way we call all dark soft-drinks "Coke"). What do you THINK they were thinking?

I don't think that MSNBC is overblowing the Jan 6 events, it really could have been a coup in real life. I didn't sleep all night, watching the news that day. If they had been able to get to the Vice President and other Senators, and Congressmen, Congresswomen, we would all be living in an entirely different country right now. So yes it WAS an INSURRECTION.
