Death of a former President Ramos

At first he was known in the military and fought in the korean war. Then a few years later he was the General along with other officers who lunch a coup d'état against the late Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. But he couldn't pull it off with the help of Cory Aquino and the people who launch the huge massive protest. He became the President after Cory. But it was the time of Asian financial crisis. People then criticizes him to be selling Government properties, includes military bases. He tried to change the constitution from Presidential to Parliamentary, which failed. But later years, he advocated for an indepedent foreign policy. What shocked me now is that Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. was his cousin. Despite of the controversies, I am thankful for his service to the country.

If not for the Asian Financial Crisis that happened before the Philippines could have become one of the best economies back then since we just got recovered from the crisis which the Aquino Admin had gotten out from. But then the Asian Financial Crisis stop that and we were pulled by it somehow and that happened at the end of his term which was bad timing for him to exit.

But personally, the only thing I remember during his term was those really long hours of black outs @rsa101 I guess you have a better experience back inthe 90s better than I do, I was too young back then.

@Letranknight2015 I'd think that our economic situation got better under his administration. I could notice the development at the time because I was working. Things may have gone differently if not for the Financial Crisis, as I was laid off during his final year in office due to the huge increase in the value of the dollar relative to the peso, which harmed many enterprises. He ended tragically, but it wasn't all his fault; rather, the whole of Asia was going through terrible hardship. The protracted blackouts began near the conclusion of the Aquino presidency and were only transferred to Ramos at that time.

You forgot to mention he was part of Marcos' inner circle who implemented Martial law. Victims of martial rule will not shed any tears for his demise.

Hello @josie_ That's why I had wondered why he was part of his government to begin with, they were related. Well, They have the right to be angry and less comforting to some one who had been part of the marcos regime.
