I was washing some things in the sink this morning when I looked at the vase with the cuttings a neighbor had given me.
They had already had roots, but when I took a closer look, the tomato cuttings had little bitty tomatoes on them! I needed to get them in the ground!
So, I went to my neighbor's "across the hall" and knocked, as she said she had a whole bunch of different tools and I was hoping one was a trowel. Sadly, she wasn't home.
Then I went over to another lady's apartment and she said she thought her roommate would know where they had a trowel, but she was out and she would text me when the roommate got home and she asked her.
While we were standing there talking she happened to look to the side and there was a trowel.
I borrowed it and brought it home, and then separated the plants that had been in the vase. Turned out I had four plants!
I tried to put the tomatoes in the ground at the front of the patio at first, but hit concrete, so I wound up putting them on the left side. I'll need to get some cages when I have the chance.

They sure do. My mother would always grow tomatoes in her garden every year. The "hot house" tomatoes had no flavor.

@marlina That's because they're picked before they're ripe.
