Atheists, Christians ... Both Sides Identify 'God' Wrong.

Some-or-another pastor posted a video claiming that "atheists are stupid for following after the dumbest philosophy of foolishness" or something. A Youtube-atheist posted this response-video, pointing out how stupid the pastor's empty-headed name-calling was. I posted a comment there (which is not there anymore), pointing out how neither one was right ... 'Both sides are stupid, thinking that God is (if he exists) 'a supernatural person.' "God the supernatural person" is just our personification of God (kinda like Ronald McDonald is the personification of McDonald's Corp.) Yet somehow--even though Christians & Atheists both grow up to understand that 'the spirit of McDonald's' is actually "the population of the company's staff"--they somehow imagine that 'God' is nothing but "the supernatural personification they use to teach children about God."' If people grow up and learn that Ronald McDonald is 'a mental summary of all of the workers at McDonald's,' why can't people grow up and learn that God is 'a mental summary of all the world's citizens' actions'?

I think that is a great comparison you made. A "mental summary" is a wonderful term as well. I tell myself daily that most people are way smarter than I and the many many people who populate the internet social streams. It's hard to believe but there are still more people offline or who do not engage in social media than it appears. They are the smart ones. In the end I guess it doesn't really matter, we all live and die and anything that lives on after is anybody's guess.

hmm ... if you don't try to learn anything, you'll never learn anything wrong?

@Namelesss Reminds me that "over 70% of Christians" haven't actually read The Bible (outside of 'what they hear-at church or -in Sunday School)---would be like me claiming to be a hockey-fan or a NASCAR-fan though I've never set through an entire hockey-match or NASCAR-race.
Faith Driven Market ResearchCall (832) 377-6623 to Get Started Today! Of over 2 billion Christians in the world, less than 30% will ever read through the entire Bible. The fact is over 82% of Christian Americans only read their Bibles on Sundays while in c

@mythociate LOL, true but I was only referring to not being smart enough to stay offline. I actually happen to be very smart but please don't tell anybody.

Ronald McDonald is the mascot of McDonald's restaurants. When we were children, many of us believed we were actually going to Ronald McDonald's HOUSE where we could actually visit the clown. Growing up, children are also told that church is "where God lives." And no, no we can't "believe what we want." Most believer (and atheists) don't feel like TRUE believers/atheists unless they 'make OTHERS believe/disbelieve.' "Telling others about something you believe" doesn't necessarily make that thing 'not wrong.'

@Hildasalom There are many atheist-groups on Facebook; they're usually 'groups for arguing against Christians,' so I think that's mostly "what atheists think." Is Facebook available in Nairobi, Kenya?

I really don't know; I was asking for YOUR guess, but I guess I can guess my guess too ... I would guess it's the same reason we keep believing that The President holds power over the entire economy etc.---because people keep calling them "The Most-Powerful Person in the World" and people call the economy "The Economy under 'that President'" or "the 'that President'-economy." Even though Christians KNOW that the only 'God' who hears us is "the Holy Spirit," we keep praying to him like he's 'some guy up in Heaven answering the phone' (and I know I'm sorta going-along with that--calling the Spirit 'him'--but I think that's what Jesus does when He says 'He sends us The Comforter (and "he" will lead us into all Truth).')
