I know that college and pro football season will be beginning in a few weeks. This story is heroism just happens to star a Little League football coach in Pittsburgh when on Monday he was coaching his youth players in a football field across the street where Rebecca Toth screamed for someone to assist her to save the life of her son who is ten months old who swallowed a plastic bottle cap.
Kristian Clayton who is the football coach of the Kiski Valley Little League football team heard the cries of the mom.
Kristian who is a former medic in the United States Air Force ran across the street to use his first aid skills did not use the Heimlich maneuver to remove the plastic bottle cap. He decided to put his fingers into the throat and manage to get the plastic bottle out of the throat of the child so that the boy could breathe again.
Kristian admitted that after he was able to save the 10 month old boy, the mom of the child were overcome with emotion that he saved the boy's life.
The boy who is named James is alive and well thanks to the life saving work of Kristian who is a volunteer coach in the Pittsburgh area.
Rebecca and her children are grateful since Kristian mentioned that had he not been there at a football field across the street from the resident of the home where her son nearly died after he swallowed a plastic bottle cap.
My belief is that the child swallowed the bottle cap by accident since his mom was likely distracted inside her home on Monday.
Even a Little League football coach who served in the military and has life saving skills can save a life.

The coach admitted that he had not been there on the football field, he would not have been able to save the small child from choking on the plastic bottle.

Army Combat Medics, Air Force Medical Technicians, and Navy Hospital Corpsman receive EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician, Basic) level certification, and their scope of practice parallels and sometimes surpasses that of a paramedic.

That is the biggest problem parents just don't look out the way they should for their kids, I am glad he was saved but he should never have gotten the plastic cap in his mouth, I mean as kids we grew up with pop tops and what not but not one us that I know every had a case of choking we were properly supervised always,

Kristian admitted that he had to use his fingers inside of the throat of the small child because he could not use the Heimlich maneuver or a pat on the back to remove the plastic bottle cap to save the child. Kristian is grateful that he was able to remove the object from the throat of the child since he never gave up trying to reach for the object.

The coach did a great job. Glad to know that the baby is fine. His ready wit of a doctor was helpful.

A 10-month old will put anything into his mouth; and there shouldn't have been anything small around him.

Hopefully the mom will learn a lesson not to have any small objects around her son again.

That is true since Kristian admitted that he was at the right place at the right time on that day.

My pleasure to share these heroic stories that usually remain in the media market where the story happened instead of a nationwide broadcast.
