I was complaining a little about how--tho Jon Batiste has been gone all summer--LATE SHOW with Stephen Colbert persisted in 'announcing that he was performing in each-and-every episode.'

The article says that Jon Batiste made the decision (Colbert says) "For all the best reasons." Do you think one of those reasons could be 'that some guy is complaining he's getting too much credit'? 
(I know it's not likely; but I'm reminded of the ending of that episode of DOCTOR WHO where he took credit for 'getting the Prime Minister fired' because he whispered something about "how tired she looks" into the ear of one of her asistants

I watch Colbert sometimes, but usually in bits and pieces. I guess now that you mention it John Baptiste hasn't been around. Maybe he got a better gig??

You know what the say once you get credit you just want more. Power and fame is addicting until you put their fans in their face, then most go I never want power or fame again unless a politician.

We musicians don't WANT 'the fame'; we just want to sit around playing our music. But we feel better about our music if we've got more people listening to it, and more people listen to it if we get famous and/or connect it to famous attractions (like Jon did with the LATE SHOW and the SOUL movie etc.)
Which reminds me; I'm also wondering whether the LATE SHOW will have new theme music when it comes back next season.
