Three Week Toilet

Three weeks ago my toilet handle broke. I took the lid off, looking for the chain to pull to flush it. No chain. I don't know how toilets are everywhere, but I hadn't seen one without a chain. I took a picture of the inside to send to my friend, and she told me how to flush it correctly. Now, three weeks later, it still is not fixed. The only good thing is I don't have to touch the water in the tank to flush it, whereas with a chain I would have.

I'm not sure how all toilets are made. But, the two we have, there are small chains hooked up to a steel strip. At the bottom, is a rubber plunger that opens and closes, when the handle is pushed down.

@SonjaRae I think the newer toilets are exactly the same, with the narrow chain attachment.

They said they'll get to it when they can. But it took them four months to change the batteries in my smoke alarm so who knows.

No chain? I didn't know they had chainless ones now! That's nearly a month - sheesh I hope they get that fixed for you very soon!

What you have there is a chainless flush, it operates basically the same way except the handle is a lever that's connected to a rod. Here is a good video that shows how to repair it or the least how to flush it manually by lifting that plunge with a rubber water stopper a chain type lifts.

You're a brave lady, I have never ever lifted the tank cover on a toilet, and I don't ever intend to. I am glad that you were smart enough to take a photo of it and have someone help you with it that way.

I have no idea how toilets are made if mine has a problem, there is a handle I jiggle down to flush it by the side of the tank inside
