Oh, many-many-MANY people call it "mining" ... imagining they're "winning" the crypto-coins their 'miners' get---and they kind-of ARE 'winning' those coins, but they're not "digging them out of the ground." I call it 'minting' for that reason and -because (as you might be able to see in the diagram) the decentralized system is more democratic than America's tyrannical system of usury & debt. Oh, the decentralized system wastes exponentially more energy (Bill Maher said on his REAL TIME with ...), but ... "freedom isn't free" or something (because--as soon as I typed that phrase--I remembered that it's in reference to 'the veterans' struggles & -losses' and not something like "paying taxes" or other things we citizens do).
