Hi guys, Hope you all are doing good. I am doing well too. India is the place wherein people of different religions stay together and celebrate each other's festivals. There is unity in diversity among people of India and share the feeling of brotherhood amongst them. Among a lot of festivals, Navratri is a hindu festival celebrated every year in India. However, due to the pandemic since 2 years, it wasn't celebrated because of government restrictions. This year, the government has given permission to celebrate it so people are very much energized and excited to celebrate it. Navratri Festival is the celebration taking place for 9 nights and 10 days. It's the longest festival celebrated in India. The Goddess Durga is worshipped in this festival. People keep fast, do prayers and then they perform different dance forms called "Garba" in which people do different steps with each other by clapping their hands. Another dance form is "Dandiya" in which they dance in different ways using sticks with each other. The Garba classes starts in India before few months in order to teach and make people practice different ways of dance. Navratri mainly celebrates Womanhood. As during these days, women are given lot of respect and care by providing them support too. Navratri also signifies " The winning of good over evil". On 7th or 8th day, Kanya Puja takes place i.e. small female children who haven't attained womanhood as in not menstruating are worshipped. A prayer is conducted for worshipping them as they are considered "a form of Goddess Durga" and they are being served delicious food as per their liking. In my city, the Surat Municipal Corporation has set up stalls in different areas for selling Chaniya Cholis and Sticks I e. the traditional attire wore by women during these days and sticks to play Dandiya one of the dance form during this festival. I hope you found this information interesting. Let me know your thoughts about it. Have a great day!! Take care!!
