It won't unscrew!

I went for a half hour morning walk, came home and washed dishes in the sink (thought the dishwasher was full but it wasn't) and brought in the larger of my two hummingbird feeders to wash.
When I went to unscrew the bottom part so that I could wash the inside, it wouldn't come off! I don't know if sugar crystalized down there 'cause I left the feeder outside too long or what exactly, but I'm soaking the feeder in hot/warm water hoping that will loosen it.
I need to remember to bring the feeder in sooner.
In the meantime, at least I have the small feeder to use...

I meant to buy hummingbird feeders this summer and missed my opportunity.
