Not feeling so good.

When I went for my 1/2 hour morning walk today, I ran into a lady I knew who let me say hello to her dog but wouldn't come near me 'cause she said she was getting over something.
I have been feeling lousy since I got home, not like doing much, and now I'm achy and every once in a while, I shiver.
I was reading, and then decided I would make myself go get the mail, but then right in the path I take to my mailbox was a lady sitting with her little granddaughter, and I didn't want to breathe on them, so I turned around to come home (or maybe I just needed an excuse to come home).
I stopped and talked to one of the maintenance guys, (at a distance) and he said lots of guys are getting what he called "summer colds". Maybe that's what I'm getting.
I'm not sure what kind of medicine I have in the apartment, and I know I don't have any soup.
Hope that you all are well in your part of myLot land!

I am hoping against hope that you haven't caught what I have had for the past three weeks. I started off kind of achy, and not very energetic. Then my lungs and sinuses started clogging up. Last week I was really feeling awful and spent the past ten days coughing and coughing hard and deep. It was so bad that the neighbor would constantly check on me at least twice a day. My doctors checked for Covid, and I didn't catch it, I have been immunized against it and had my boosters. So that's some relief. I will add that I didn't do much eating over the past three weeks either. I lost another size because of the sickness.
I strongly suggest that you get a nasal decongestant (if you can afford it get a good brand name like Mucinex or the like) and stock up on cough drops. (Vicks has worked the best for me...it's a good strong cough drop. I bought "Vicks VapoCool max Strength". It lives up to its name and not only controls the cough, but the vapers also help keep the congestion under control. I also used Vapo rub on my chest in the beginning.) You are right in wanting liquids. I craved them myself too. I sucked down raman and Cup of Noodles like crazy. I also drank water and tea like it was going out of style. It will help you clear the bacteria from the virus from your system. After the three weeks and loosing another size, I am finally wanting "normal" food. When I weighed in a week ago Tuesday, I had lost another 12 pounds. It's hard walking around in my jeans now, they don't want to stay up and I can pull them down without undoing a button or zipper. Anyhow, get plenty of rest and stay away from other people. If you must go out, wear a mask for two reasons. One is to keep from passing this mess to someone else and two is to keep from getting a worse virus. I went out today to pay my rent and first thing I did was grab my mask to keep the bacteria under control. Above all, take care of you!!!!
As for the soup, if you have any sort of meat leftovers in the fridge cut them up small and toss them in a pot with some water. Let them simmer for a while and then check for veggies and noodles. If you have the noodles, put them in first and let them cook until nearly tender. Then add the veggies. The veggies don't need to cook really well, that will counter act the benefits of the veggies. Anyhow, then you'll have soup. (OH, if you have bullion, add that to the meat scraps when you start cooking them. I usually do the cooking in my crockpot until get to the noodles. They get done on the stove and added to the crockpot when they are ready. Then all you have left is doing the veggies.)
I really really hope that you don't have this mess. My neighbor informed me that all the sinus meds and cough drops are really hard to find on the shelves. People are stocking up with the stuff (and kleenex) like crazy. Please be careful and take care of yourself!!! Keep me on your contact list so I know how you're doing! Tons of hugs. L & H's

Thank you, Toni! So far I have a bit of broth in the house and I do have tea, but that's it.
