I went out and watered the plants on the patio, and several times passed the rock I've been wondering what I was going to paint on. Then one time I passed it and it hit me. An "Americana" like design, and somewhere on it "God Bless the U.S." my decor theme for the inside of the apartment is "Americana" so why not a little outside. I only have Mom's old acrylic paints, so the colors won't be "exactly right", but it's not like it's some kind of order or I'm selling it or anything. I'm glad that I finally figured out what to put on this rock. It's been good painting outside because in the sun the paint dries faster. I'll do some more on it later, hopefully.

I had collected a bunch of rocks where I used to live. I scrubbed them and let them dry for a few days while I was figuring out what to paint on them. It finally hit me, and I painted each and every one like a large ladybug. I spent quite a while painting them and letting the oil paints dry. When the tops dried, I signed the bottoms "The Fantom". I left them to dry over the week, and the following Friday I packed up all the rocks (there were around 50 of them) and went from place to place and deposited them on the people's stoops. It was rather funny the next day, I received reports that the people who had come in for the weekend received quite a fright from my bugs. Some of them actually got out their brooms and beat the living daylights out of the ladybugs. It was quite humorous to visualize these rough, tough, rugged people beating on little rocks that were painted like ladybugs... I even made the homeowner's monthly newsletter, with pictures of the painted rocks! Enjoy painting your rock, and I hope you post a picture of the finished artwork. Have a great weekend! L & H's
