Electricity was gone for half of the day.

We mostly take for granted things like electricity. I never remember that electricity and a good drinking water were not part of all the people for a long time and that even now some people don´t have it.
So, when I woke up from my nap and decided to get something else from the fridge, I was worried because the light was off when I opened the door. I checked everything until I discovered that I did not have electricity in all my house. That meant no computer, no TV and even if I wanted a cup of coffee, there would be problems. So I put on my PJs, got into my bed and decided to sleep it off.
And so I did. And I slept for such a long time that when I woke up I did not know what day it was. What woke me up was a sound from the alarm. And when I opened my eyes the lamp from my night table was on (I hd done that so that I would know).
Now it is late, Luna is fed and petted and I am not sleepy at all. I made an omelette as a sort of dinner with ham and rice. And I added half an avocado for dessert.
Now I´m going to check your posts. and later on I´ll read my notifications. See you.

I agree that electricity is something we take for granted until we don’t have any one day. I remember forgetting to pay the bill and the lights were out all of a sudden. Its a pain to wait for it to come back especially when they cant reconnect it quick. Good to see you just slept it off. I cannot even do that here because the weather is too hot and humid.

I hope that tomorrow this long nap won´t harm my day as tomorrow I have an appointment with the dentist.

@marguicha I hope you do get enough sleep for your dentist appointment. Its too tiring to go out without enough sleep or a good sleep.

that’s funny you woke not knowing what day it was. I hate that confused feeling.
I keep forgetting about omelets I want to make one for the baby.
I have a very old glass percolator that I could use to make coffee on the stovetop if I knew how and needed to. My husband makes it that way once in awhile not out of necessity though.1 person likes this

@marguicha yes definitely! I get bad headaches without the caffeine in the morning. I’d have to at least make tea with the teapot if my electric went out. Thankfully I have a propane stove

Glad it came back on. Napping is perfect when that happens

Glad to know your electricity came back on. You know that is a thought back in the olden days when electricity was not invented everyone got along with what they had including candles and lanterns, Now I even get scared when I do not have my Internet the world has certainly changed, and I have to say if not for the Internet I would prefer the old days, but I could not do without working online today at all,

In our last BIG earthquake I has no electricity for 3 days and I was lucky. I did not open the freezer during those days and nothing was thawed but I threw away all the fish and seafood I had frozen just in case.

Not having electricity is a huge inconvenience these days. We now have a standby generator that will go on when the power goes off.
