A New Jersey Port Authority Police Officer named Len Hoffman admitted that he was at the right place at the right time on Friday afternoon when he was at the Newark Liberty International Airport when he saw a rideshare driver named Viza Yildiz slumped over inside of his auto on the roadway as he was choking on a piece of chewing gum. Officer Hoffman who will say he was just doing his job to serve and protect the members of their community at all times even if he was off duty used his training in the police academy to apply the Heimlich maneuver on Viza for a period of eight thrusts before Viza was able to spit the chewing gum of his mouth and breathe again. Officer Hoffman who is a nine year veteran of the police force wishes that everyone would first aid skills to save lives since saving a life is the greatest feeling anyone will have in their lifetime.

I share the same feelings that the choking victim is a lucky man at the airport that a police officer saved him.

@RubyHawk That is true since I have been warned by my relatives not to eat too fast or bite off more than I chew.

@CarolDM It is the nature of persons who commit crimes and complain that the police officers cross the line when they are being arrested to paint the police officer as a villain.

@Deepizzaguy Many will look for stories to make the police look bad. The majority of officers are good cops.

Wonderful that officer Hoffman was there in time to help Mr Yildiz. And he is right, everyone should learn basic first aid skills, you never know when you may need to help someone.

The same with me chewing gum but I never did choke on a piece of gum. Maybe Viza is getting up there in age and he is not able to chew gum properly like he used to.
