You remember QUANTUM LEAP---the TV-show about a nuclear-physicist who somehow sent his consciousness into the bodies of others throughout time, and it worked out that he went to those times "to put right what once went wrong." Maybe there was 'a little bit of explanation of that' from-time-to-time, but each episode was basically "he made sure things went right in the historic time he leapt into, then he would leap to the next episode." Well, they were always hoping his next leap "would be the leap home," but what actually happened was 'his last leap made sure Al made it home from the war (rather than getting stuck in a P.O.W. camp and inspiring his wife's suicide), and then Sam just disappeared.' Well, it's 30 years later, and a nuclear physicist and his team decided to use 'The Quantum Leap Accelerator' to find Sam & bring him home.
