Americans, Let's Get Our Voting-Plans Straight: Sad that This is How The System Works, but This Is The Way (unless someone changes it)

Sure, we're all "independently thinking individuals' in America; but--since you want your leaders to use the same kind of logic you do--you try to put yourself in the Political-Party with the same 'agenda' as you (which plans to make the society work 'the way you think it should'), and it becomes a lot easier just to vote for 'your Party's set of standards' than to examine each individual to see if they're the leader you want. Maybe you want to 'examine each individual' before you vote for them in the primary vote; but we figure they only get to the general vote once 'the primary' verifies their devotion to Party values. So our elections every couple years are a sort of 'census' on "what Party-platform our citizens choose to stand-on." Right? (Ballotpedia links to the platforms of 'the two main parties' (the only ones that the current system allows TO WIN) https://ballotpedia.org/Ballotpedia:Index_of_Contents_(National_party_platforms) 0 choose one of those, then start working on 'which of the third-parties you'll switch to when/if your State does 'ranked-voting' )

The relationship between a political party and its members is like the tail wagging the dog. We like to think party platforms are based on their member's core values, but the reality is that we are being manipulated by the few who head the party for their own selfish agenda.

Perhaps, but they don't get that high without the support of many people in their party.

@mythociate By the time they reach the top, their principles have been compromised by greed and power.

@josie_ I guess this is how 'people who have always lived under the rule of a monarchy whom they didn't CHOOSE (and who didn't have to "conquer" the kingdom)' feel.
