I went to get the mail wearing the brace with the ice pack in it. It felt kind of weird (I guess 'cause I'm not used to wearing something like that), but otherwise okay.
I came straight back instead of lengthening my walk to half an hour. I saw that I had an email from the director at the in-home daycare, as well as a text (saw the text first, then looked at the email, which said I wasn't answering her texts...(of course I had just seen the text, so...) asking if I could work for her all of next week, and she would raise my pay (by a dollar, but I haven't been getting paid from anywhere else otherwise, so...). She also said that she'd pay for a taxi for me to go home if my knee was still hurting. Okay, then.
In the meantime, I'm still waiting for this Coast Guard thing to come through...

Yeah, that was my thought, too--but fortunately the in-home daycare will be keeping me busy for a while.

The outdoor daycare is in a barnyard full of uneven adobe, and that plus my terrible sense of balance have caused me to fall and bang up my right knee the last two times I've been there. My knee's been hurting a whole lot lately, and recently when I talked to my doctor about it, she "prescribed" some stretches that only seemed to make it worse.
I got a brace that has an ice pack to put in it, and it seems to be helping even though I've only worn it once.
