Even though I never played football in school other flag football, I know who a former high school player who lives in Mobile Alabama named Higel Harris had to deal with the loss of two of his championship rings that he won as part of the Mattie T. Blount high School teams in 1990 and 1992.
Higel was riding aboard a float in Mobile Alabama during the Mardi Gras celebrations in Mobile in 2016 when he lost his championship football rings.
Last week a Mobile resident named Jamie Moore who used a metal detector while was traveled to downtown Mobile when he found two rings that were missing on the ground.
My best guess is that Jamie saw the initials of the former football player on the ring and most likely used the internet to find out who owned the high school rings.
When Jamie came to the home of Higel last week, he gave Higel his championship rings back which made Higel a very happy young man since he thought that the football championship rings were lost forever.
The championship rings meant a lot to Higel since playing a sport like football is one of the toughest sports to play.

Good question since the rings were probably buried in the ground after the wet weather pushed the rings from the street underground.

@Deepizzaguy That must have been the reason they weren’t found years before.

@RubyHawk Most likely scenario since the report from UPI mentions a similar incident in West Virginia with a high school graduate who lost his ring in a similar fashion.

What an honest finder keeper! I appreciate his attitude of returning the lost rings to the rightful owners.

I am in agreement with you that there are some people who think that how would they like it if an object they lost was never returned to them due to greed from the person who found the object.

Sports championship rings are priceless to the person who won one of them when they played a sport like football which is a very rough sport.

@CarolDM I have seen it on television shows that being a football player in every level is hard work where only the strong survive.
