I am sure many of you are surprised that I chose the newest Ghostbuster movie, and not one of the two original ones. Like many of you, I grew up watching the original two Ghostbusters movies. I knew who Billy Murray and Annie Potts were from a young age. I had the toy proton pack and the jumpsuit. So don't get me wrong. I love the original movies, but I love Afterlife for everything it will bring to the new generation.
Ghostbuster Afterlife follows the story of Egon's grandchildren, his granddaughter in particular who has a fascination with science. The movie follows as his estranged daughter and granddaughter come back to his house to take care of it, and fix it up. They end up stumbling on Egon's work, and well as you can imagine, the movie kind of takes off from there and I can't really talk about the movie without giving away too much.
It's a great movie. So much better than I thought it was going to be, especially after the not so great all female one from a few years back.
They left it open for an organic sequel instead of something that felt forced (here's looking at you movie starring Melissa McCarthy).

Hm. That actually sounds feasible. Being some one who grew up with the original, and being not happy that they remade the original, your description of this new thing actually makes sense. (RIP Harold Ramis--Egon forever).

The all female cast one was not very good at all.
This one is the best possible outcome for the new one.
And they did right by Harold Ramis/Egon in this movie. Which is something they don't always do once the actor is gone.

I absolutely refused to watch the all-female cast one.

@thislittlepennyearns Oh cool! Are the latter ones as funny as the original?

@TheHorse I have only seen the second one a couple of times. It's good, but I have a soft spot for Dan Akroyd.
The one that came out in 2016 is not good. They forced it. It's got an all female cast of ghostbusters and it doesn't follow the story at all. It's just not good.
The newest one is amazing. And probably my favorite out of any of them.

There are the two orignial with the original cast. Then the one that came out in 2016 i think, with an all female cast. Then this one, which is really really good. And the original cast all make appearances.

I am a huge Ghostbusters fan, but sadly haven’t seen this one yet. I think I was left with a bad taste in my mouth after the all-female version came out.

@thislittlepennyearns If it’s on Prime then I can watch it. But I don’t have Paramount.

@moffittjc All you have to do is message me and I'll give you my log in. Looks like Starz and Hulu have it.
You can get the free trial of Starz through prime and watch it that way.

This one more than makes up for it! I think it's on Paramount, or Prime or something. But I bought it on Blu Ray. It is so good, and they did Egon's memory good in the movie. So you have to go watch it!
