Here is the real deal. First off, you need culture to have a "cancel culture". It seems like anyone who is no longer the flavor-of-the-month blames it on "cancel culture". I'm curious how you all would compare this era to the present, since I only have my views. A true comedian who calls themselves a satirist or one who does social commentary can't just go along with The Establishment.... Ironically, Mort Sahl was JFK's favorite comedian, and had his father ask Mort to write jokes for the 1960 Presidential Campaign. But the minute JFK became President, Sahl went after the new administration. And then really lost his career when he got involved with this.. And, in order to have "cancel culture", you need culture.

You have a good point that the persons that call for "Cancel culture" need an enemy to after.

It's business. It's attention. No different than the media needing the same thing. Some boogeyman. But it's a distortion to show 1-2 cases out of almost 350 million people, always the story of the worst actions, especially when it's played over and over.
