Today 8th November 22 is Kartik Purnima. It's an auspicious day for all Indians, especially the people of Odisha. In ancient times when the Paradip port was an active port, traders sailed on this day with their cargo to different countries to sell it and the women at home prayed by the river or sea side for their safe voyage. It started from the time when there was barter system. Our Indian traders in those days brought back goods like silk, spices and many more from foreign countries. Indian was thought to be a good place for trading as it is thought today as a good place for foreign investment. Today still people go to river or sea side and sail paper boats, banana stem boats or thermocol boats and pray for their prosperous trade and professional prosperity.
