Well, that was an adventure...

I took the bus as far as the transit mall, and from there, went to the downtown shopping center.
The person who wanted me to walk their dog said not to come earlier that 11:15, as they would be going out in the morning and wanted to be sure they were home. That was one of the reasons I went to the shopping center, as I was early getting to that side of town.
I shopped a little at the discount grocery store, then went and bought something at the dollar store. I sat awhile outside when I was done, as I was still early (I was going to call a Lyft to get me the rest of the way).
I still got to the house early, so I sat on the porch a bit, then walked across the street to check out some free stuff in the neighbor's front yard, then finally I went back to knock on the door.
I was a tad surprised, as I had assumed the person was a woman, but a young man answered the door.
He said he was in school studying to be a nurse practitioner. He made me some tea and we talked for a bit and I met the dog, and then he took me and the dog along the route they walked (which was super short compared to the length of a walk Angel and I used to go).
He seemed a bit distressed when I told him about taking a bus and a Lyft to get there, and paid me more than twice what I was charging. I told him if he wanted to find someone closer to him (or that drove themselves) I would totally understand. Afterward he proceeded to tell me other days he might need me, so...
That was an adventure, to say the least.

@xstitcher So perhaps he shouldn't have a dog.

Because he's studying to be a nurse practitioner and is out of the house a lot.

I think so, too--I just wish I hadn't made the young man feel bad about what I did to get there.

I don't blame you for feeling that way. Kind of him to double your pay for having to deal with the distance. Sounds like he likes you enough to have you back again, too. Which is a good sign.

Yes, he was, and it certainly is.
