My husband grandmother called last night which I wasn’t home for. He was telling me about how the phone call went. He has told her we took away our daughters make up because she’s wasn’t turning in home work in time and wasn’t trying to do her best. His grandmother pretty told him that our 11 year old daughter that is in middle school shouldn’t wear make up at all. It’ll give her a bad reputation and lead her to be in with the bad kids and nobody will want to be her friends because of the fact she wears make up. This made my husband feel like she was imply that our 11 year old wearing make up meant that she was going to be in his grandmothers eyes a “wh0re.” I was shocked because make up is just make up. If doesn’t mean she is going to be a bad kid or be in with the grown kids plenty of women and young girls wear make up all of the time.

Sounds like grandmother is still holding on to the conservative values from generations ago. That may have been the thinking back when she was young, but times have changed. I can only imagine what her views of piercings and tattoos are.

For the kids she is great grandmother and she will say one thing to one person and say something totally different to another. I wonder what she would say about her 6 year old great granddaughter wearing makeup and cheering?

Make up has nothing to do with what a girl does or does not do.. It is upp to you and your daughter how much she does or does not wear.

Actually it’s up to her how much wears and currently she gets zero because of her bad choice of not complaining assignments for school during the 1st quarter. She also only use wears make up after school and weekends. Some times we let her during the week but she gets up on her own and the house rule is if you’re going to wear make sure you get up in enough time to brush your hair.
