My kids only have 2 days of school this week which is just Monday and Tuesday. Then they have Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday then back to school. It’s short but that’s good meaning the kids won’t drive both my husband and I up the wall. I’m going to enforce some reading time.

When kids are at home, we need to make a lot more plans to keep them occupied. School days are much easier, except for the early morning frenzy.

Lol we have a routine even on a day with no school. The kids take to it like it’s nothing but they do get bored more quickly since they don’t always get to see there friend and I can’t kick them outside like I can in the summer.

Thanksgiving in the US. So the school system gives the kids odd since it’s a national and government holiday.

Times feel like they've changed a lot. I went to a boarding school, so we got the whole week off. But, my family who attended the regular school, would have to go Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.

Public school it really depends on where you live with in the US because it changes across the country. My kids usually get the whole week off same as I did when in schools last year and this what they cut it down for other faiths holidays as well

Our public school students have the entire week off, which I wish they would have done when my kids were little (it's something they started doing a few years ago). The University of Florida is off Wednesday-Friday. I imagine most college students will just head home the entire week and just miss classes on Monday or Tuesday (unless there are professors who are jerks and give exams on those days).

When I was in college you had like the day before thanksgiving and then that weekend and were back to class on Monday or Tuesday. Yeah after that we had to study for Exam because they happen the first 2 of December and here’s our till 2 week of January.

@ShyBear88 That's the one thing I always hated about college, was leaving to enjoy Thanksgiving break but knowing you had exams to come back to afterward. It really made Thanksgiving more stressful than it had to be.

Reading is so important. Gives them a break from the screen for a bit

@Dreamerby yes I know I read a lot on my phone which is my one book I wrote is on Kindle and paper back. My kids read a lot of book from physical to computer or iPods. They also have alot of learning apps since they all have learning disabilities that affect their reading and writing skills just like their mom.

You do know people can read on screens? Like many kids have endless supple of read material online and actually many electronics are used in homes for the kids with different special needs as way to help them. My kids can have as little or as much screen time as we choice to let them. They also use there computers and stuff for reading since all of my kids have learning disabilities they can change the settings on there computer to help them read and stimulate their brains at the same time.
