Your Faith is Probably an Intricate Lie

Listening to a recording of Shepherd's Chapel (reading & discussing The Bible "chapter-by-chapter, verse-by-verse" ... with some knowledge of the original manuscripts' languages) & hearing Pastor frequently mention 'how you love Jesus,' this Scripture (in an image that the page won't upload) leapt to mind. And with it came this message, "No, Yahweh is not 'Our Father.' He's 'Our Friend's Dad.'" What also came to mind was the idea of Faith. The entire Christian Faith is centered on the 'idea' (I was gonna say "fact"--as it IS a 'fact' in many-many minds--but I could also say "story"---true story? whatever gives you peace-of-mind) that Lord Jesus Christ died to pay for our lives. All the other 'faith' you have stems from that faith. Now many in 'the ministries I've talked about elsewhere' have 'faith' that "God is Our Daddy, and he is RICH!" When loved ones are sick or we're going through trouble, lots of people will say, "Have faith in God, and he'll see you through." And lots of OTHER passages in The Bible affirm the same thing---kinda making me think of The Bible as not so much 'The Contract with God' or 'The History of God's People' we frame it as, but more 'The Love Letter from God, trying to convince us that we ought to get to know him' or 'the little Self-Esteem Boost (a la Stuart Smalley ... "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough and--DogGonnit--People Like Me!" ). So, you CAN believe all the 'Magic Sugar-Daddy in Heaven raining-down riches "like the dewfall"'-stuff you want; but remember that it's ALL built on 'The Greatest Love, that One Gives one's Life for one's Friends'---One gave His Life for those who Stand with Him.

I would not call it all a lie so much as a misconception.
