Wegmans baked goods suck!

I will never buy baked goods, pastries, from Wegmans again. I thought it would be nice to have some donuts and I’ve been partial to orange cranberry scones I’ve gotten from Amazon. I ordered a dozen donuts, but they didn’t have what I wanted, so I ended up with four pumpkin, six glazed and four white cream filled with chocolate icing. I loathe icing on donuts, but of all the donuts, they were the only relatively decent ones. The glazed? Have you ever had a glazed donut that was only glazed on the top? Do you know how fast they go stale without a full glaze? The pumpkin donuts, prepacked, two plain and two with glaze (again, only on top). Dry and crumbly from the first bite and virtually tasteless. No pumpkin or spice flavor that I could notice. Tucker liked it. The half-glaze didn’t help the flavor, And, the damned thing peeled as I ate it. Driest donuts ever. Likewise with the scones. Yes, they’re usually very much like shortbread, but these were a dry shortbread with very little flavor. You have to understand….my mother worked in a bakery throughout my childhood until after I graduated high school. I KNOW good baked goods. These were definitely NOT good baked goods. What I did like was the fresh diced peppers and onions I got so Debra could make chili, the ground beef to go with them, cheap diet decaffeinated cola, cheaper butter with canola oil I’ve come to love. The ease of picking up my order was also a plus. About as easy as Walmart, but Walmart is cheaper. Still, I went with Wegmans because I was able to get a good sized turkey breast for tomorrow. I also like that they have international foods - truly international. Not just Goya and Chung King. And, I like their fresh heat and eat options, but I don’t go shopping anymore, so I don’t get to get those things. Oh, and the cafeteria with so many hot foods is also pretty nice.

It's just the onsite baked goods I was disappointed in. Although I've had their bagels which are really not bad, I won't do the bakery again.

@CarolDM I'm good. There are loads of good bakeries around. Even Walmart's is better. But, I have to do it all by delivery, so it limits things a bit.

Right now they're in PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA and NY with plans to expand further. They just opened in CT and MA, too. They were originally just PA and NJ. Really a nice store, but the bakery was a disappointment. First time I've had a problem with quality with them.

They are really a great store. So much to choose from and, mostly, great quality. This was a surprise since what I'd been getting from Amazon was so good. Everything else I think is fine. They are currently a regional supermarket centered in PA and NJ, but they are also in DE, MD and VA. They're just opening locations in NY, MA and CT and are planning other states as well. Great place for a quick lunch. They have a pizza shop, a cafeteria, a coffee shop and now burgers. That's in addition to all the traditional groceries and sundries plus liquor.
