Hi guys, Hope you all are doing good. I am doing well too. I had mentioned in my yesterday's post that I had to cancel my religious trip as my periods are due. Today, 24th November is celebrated as "Iranshah Birth Anniversary". The Iranshah fire temple of parsis was constructed in Sanjan in 721 AC. It was then shifted from Sanjan to Udvada, a small village in Gujarat, India. It's a saga of courage, endurance and determination of our Parsi Ancestors who after lot of hard work were able to shift the sacred fire from one place to another. On this auspicious day, parsis come from across India and abroad to pray in this Firetemple. Parsis come mainly from Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Navsari and Surat. The whole Firetemple is decorated with flowers garlands and inside the picture frames are decorated likewise. People come in morning to worship after which they buy religious stuff like Scarf (which is like a handkerchief worn by females to cover their head), Caps (which is used by males to cover their head), souvenirs like God's frame, pendents, light lamp etc. A traditional parsi sari called "Gaaro" which has embroidery on it is also sold. All these is sold by village people over there. People also sell traditional food items like Bhakra which is a traditional parsi sweet, biscuits etc. A lot other stuff like Peppermint for tea etc is sold too. A food feast is arranged for parsis which we refer as "Gambhar" in which all yummy traditional parsi dishes are cooked in big vessels by using wood. Welcome drink is served and traditional dessert Ravo is there too to sweeten our tastebuds. Traditional ice icecream person comes too so that one can enjoy icecream after meal. The meal is a huge feast mainly containing more nonveg stuff and little vegetarian stuff too. Generally, parsis are hard core non-vegetarians. I hope you find this information interesting. Me and my family are attending this day since many years. We have missed attending since few years. Hope to attend it soon in the future!! Have a good day!! Take care!!
