My daughter is in her 6th grade now. Their school does not require pupils to bring lunch because they just stay there for half a day. I want her to eat a whole meal but she doesn't want me to prepare for her. She only wants to bring biscuits and yogurt or juice that we bought from the grocery store. She also wants to bring money as 'baon' in which she buys for what they call 'hot meals' like 'lugaw', 'champorado', 'sopas' and 'bilu-bilo' served in an 8 ounce saucer. Sometimes she gets free candies from her classmates and sometimes they go outside to buy 'sorbetes', 'iskrambol' or soda served in a plastic bag with straw.

That is what children loves to eat during their class break. When my children were still in the elementary, i also give them money aside from the biscuits and tetra drinks that they have in their bags. That is if they want to buy other foods in the school canteen

I came to realize that my daughter is a grown up now and she is shy to be different while all her classmates are eating only snacks.

What she has sounds good. How come just half a day.

There are two shifts in their school. The morning session and the afternoon session. The grade 6 pupils are all in the morning shift.
