A few days ago 3 teenage boys who were taking tuitions for IIT and AIEEE in a coaching class in Kota, Rajasthan were found dead in their hostel room. The police claims they committed suicide due to stress. Their pere in the hostel opine that they are under tremendous pressure. They study for 15 hours a day and everything goes wrong if they sleep an hour longer. Maybe these boys couldn't take this stress and committed suicide.
My point is why put that pressure at all? Why don't these coaching institutes high light this tight schedule so that students ready to take this pressure would take up the coaching course the others can go for other courses? The world doesn't need only doctors and engineers. The world needs many types of professionals and our youngsters can take up other profession too. Suicide is not the solution. That the parents should instill into a young boy or girl's mind since childhood. Say what you think about it.

That's terrible. And it's unfortunate that it is not the only standalone case. We keep hearing about such incidences from time to time. Life is much more than academics, grades, competitive exams. I wish home and institutions realise that. Children should be exposed to various careers and allowed to pursue what they want. It's just the basic right of any human being.

This was the students decision of coming to Kota and taking coaching but couldn't handle the pressure. Parents and teachers should study the students attitude and guide them accordingly.

@arunima25 These boys belonged to a small town where I don't think they had any career counseling fairs. If every child of India got this facility there wouldn't be such disasters.

@aninditasen They are young and feel the peer pressure too. It's very important for people around to give them space and more options to explore. Career counseling and career fairs are important to expose students to the various careers and not feel pressurized to follow what the mass is doing.

Students should be able to take a lighter course load so they can balance studying and getting rest. Even if it takes a little longer. This relieves a lot of pressure and gives assurance that they will achieve their goals.

That's so sad. Indeed, youngsters should not be under such pressure. Parents and teachers have the responsibility to let them know there are many career options.

Yes, parents and teachers should study the students attitude as a child and guide them accordingly.
