Black bear in the backyard of a resident in North Carolina

Casey Vandergrift who lives in Asheville North Carolina last week admitted that she thought the noise coming from an area of dense bush was a wounded animal. Since the incident happened at night, Casey used a flashlight to locate a black bear in her backyard making noises to the effect of snoring. The University of North Carolina Charlotte Urban Institute mentioned that there is an increase of black bears in the region. Jody Williams who is the founder of the local conservation group called Help Asheville Bears mentions that the black bear will not harm any human as long as the humans leave them alone. Casey mentions that she has no problem living in a neighborhood with a black bear in her neighborhood since she grew up in a farm. I hope that the Asheville area stays with the idea of animals having their home since they need their place to stay like humans need their place to stay as well.
