In India uselessly premium trains like Duronto are delayed in the winter.

My wife and two sons boarded the superfast train Duronto Express from Calcutta to get down at Nagpur yesterday. India has a very bad tendency of giving signals to goods train at the cost of long distance trains with numerous passengers. The train should have reached Nagpur at 8.45 evening. Instead of that it was 5 hours 15 minutes late and reached Nagpur at 2 pm at night. In a winter it creates just harassment for passengers. There was no fog issue and lack of visibility. It was sheer bad policy.

Perhaps there should be a flexibility and the Trains should start late. May be there was a heavy fog somewhere in the whole route. Or perhaps Indian Railways need some good system so that Trains can run in Fog also.

@sathviksouvik Yes even though many Railway Stations are getting a good facelift and modernization, there are still many gaps. One gap is what you pointed. The other is regarding cleanliness. I traveled through New Delhi Railway Station as well as Chandigarh railway station in November 22. Cleanliness is still lacking in many places, although better than before. Let us hope these things are addressed soon.

Sounds like a badly managed system.
