I took a course in Medical Assisting a few years ago and graduated Valedictorian of my class, maintaining a 3.6 overall. Since then, I have yet to get my foot in the door at any healthcare facility. I have applied for every entry-level position that I've been trained for in over a dozen facilities to only be told, sent a postcard, or an email stating that I am underqualified. In the meantime, I have been working the same retail job for almost 4 years and although I've been promoted several times, the career that I'm looking for (and definitely the money) just isn't there. In the past, someone gave me the idea of temporary staffing agencies but they've even given me the same response. I've even volunteered my time, but even the employers that hire the volunteers have stated with the use of volunteers, they have not needed to hire an hourly employee. Any ideas? Anyone else going through this with their career-search? I am beginning to feel hopeless!
