Why many people like to do their owm small business?

I would prefer to have a small business that I can do from home. I would like to be able to make things and ssell them on ebay, on my own website, and at fairs. That way I can still be available for my kids when they need me the most and be able to still help my husband with the house hold bills.

The freedom that owning your own business offers you versus working a corporation is a big one. You have unlimited earning potential and the freedom to work as much (or little) as you want. There are many drawbacks too, such as the fact that if you don't earn you have no money, and most people who own their own business end up working much harder than they would if they worked for someone else.

I see my small business as a job, but I know what you mean as I also go out to work for someone else. I'd prefer to spend more time working for myself so that I could have more control about how I run things and what I do or don't do on a particular day
