At what age do you think it would be ok to leave your child at home? and for how long?

maybe 13/14 would be a good age...I don't think they should stay home alone for a long time tho..I am way over protective of my kids anyways...I am still taking my 4 grader to school everyday.

I think it would have to be at least 12/13 and then it wouldn't be for very long. It would also depend on the maturity of the child and how responsible they are. I would still have a neighbor checking on them I think even at that age.

I think in the UK its legally 14, and not for too long. I know it depends a little bit on the child, but I'm failry sure thats the legal age.

I think it really depends on the child. But I would say no earlier than 12. I would start with short outings and see how that works before I went out for a log time. I would work up to long times. My children are still very youg so I am not ready to even ready to think about that yet. But I a vry big on lettings kids earn trust. What better way to earn trust hen sticking your head out on a rope and hope you don't hang your self. Ok may be bad choose of words but that the best I can think of right now.

It depends on the kid. I would start leaving them alone for a few minutes at a time like 25-30 when they are 11 or so. I don't think I could leave them alone for longer periods of time until they are more mature like 14-15.

For me it depends on there maturity level. My oldest is 11 and when he had no school but my younger ones did I would leave him hom long enough to drop them at school and come back, which is about 15-20min. If I had to make a trip to the stor really quick and he didnt want to go I know I could leave him alone. He is a very responsible child and knows not to answer the phone unless it is his own cell phone.

My children were not allowed to stay home along until 12 and then it was not a long trip. We would go to the grocery store or something short like that.

it's difficult to say, it depends also on kid, someone a more mature than other, in general perhaps about at 10-12 years old you can leave for few time

When I was growing up I was left home alone at about 9 years old I think. I started babysitting at age 11 or 12 years old. Personally, I think that you should be able to leave your kids home alone at age 12 depending on how mature they are.

I think it depends on how mentally mature the child is. Also i wouldn't leave any of my kids home or babysitting till they where at least 14. I don't know why really as i babysat at 10. I just don't feel its safe.
