Are we as advanced as we think we are?

We say that civilization now is more advanced than in any other period in human history. We have technology that would not have been available or thought of centuries ago. But, are we really as advanced as we believe we are? I do not think we are. In 2020, we found ourselves paralyzed by a virus. The Covid-19 pandemic still rages on 3 years later. We are defeated medically and economically by a virus in the 21st century. We would have expected this in the early 1900s, not in 2020. Did we not learn from history how to handle such situations? Have we learned now how to handle or control a similar outbreak from having such a devastating impact? It seems the undeniable answer is, no. The pandemic situation led to a breakdown in the supply chain. So, finished goods took longer to arrive on shelves. Goods that required components sourced from other countries took longer to be produced because parts were in short supply. This all translated to the inability to find what we needed or wanted when we needed or wanted them. This also led to a staggering rise in prices. So, in all of our economies globally no one figured out beforehand that we were at risk? How is that possible? We say we are advance because of the vast amounts of knowledge that we have now. Yet we use this knowledge to build bombs, pollute the environment and bit by bit destroy the planet that we live on. Things are so bad that the only planet we know we can exist on will probably be uninhabitable in the future. So, how advance can we be if we destroy the only place that we can live? Is this the fruit of the intelligence of a greater species? Humanity prides itself as being the most intelligent species on Earth. Humanity in the 21st century believes it is light years ahead of any civilization that has ever existed. Yet, we have not proven that.

We are going against nature. Harming the ecosystem with harmful emissions. Therefore, this pandemic, earthquake and landslides, floods etc.

So you believe in climate change? I agree with you. It's odd that most people understand cause and effect, action and reaction. But, some are prepared to dismiss this when it comes to our environment.

@rpinder Everyone knows about the environmental imbalance but pretend to know nothing for their selfish interest.
