Tonight I made creamy Italian baked chicken, four cheese mashed potatoes, and improvised parmesan garlic bread.
I used two bags of chicken I picked up from the snack guy a couple of days ago. They were $1.75 each, so that part cost $3.50
I used just about the whole bottle of creamy Italian dressing that I got from snack guy, which was $1.00
To go with it I grabbed a pack of Idahoan instant four-cheese potatoes. YES, I do know how to make homemade mashed potatoes, no I didn't feel like doing it tonight. I do half water and half milk instead of doing the whole 2 cups of water, and add about 1/8 cup of butter. I also added some extra American cheese to it. The potatoes by themselves were $1.25, along with the pinch of cheese, seasonings, and milk I'm going to say it cost $1.50 for the potatoes.
I had about half a pack of hamburger buns left from the other day when I made Steak Um sandwiches. So I used two of those and spread butter, Parmesan cheese, and garlic salt. I'm going to say $0.50 on that.
So the total, if my math is right is $6.50 for dinner. That's for three of us, or it breaks down to about $2.17 per person.
The picture I took for this post is of the child's plate. She also got some mandarin oranges. Which maybe adds $0.50 to her plate. But I try to make sure she gets fruits or veggies with at least 90 percent of her meals.
So that's what went on the table tonight. What did you have for dinner? Also, be proud that we are eating before seven pm.
