First Duty for the Month-Surgical Rotation

March 5, 2023 6:25pm CST
I'm exhausted again. I didn't know why I thought it would be much easier since we did the first loop already, but it was much harder now. I think it was because we were essentially acting like residents, since the first year residents are still new and don't know much about how the hospital works yet (for obvious reasons: their batch wasn't allowed into the hospital for training during the pandemic). Going back home after that 36-hour-shift, however, I felt gratitude for my body for holding me up despite the difficulty of my job. I had a really bad headache and the dizziness was overwhelming after it all, but I survived it, and I guess for an intern, that's what matters. Of course, as a thank you, that would mean I need to take better care of myself. I'm far from that right now, though, but I'm working on it. I only have one body, after all. Next target: Here's to thriving (instead of just surviving) in more tours of duty in the future!

You survived and that's what's the most important.
