Portland Oregon dog owner Larry Beutler who is the owner of a female Black Labrador Retriever named Tess who is 13 years of age was walking with her owner when she saw two Portland city employees standing near am open manhole when the curious nature of Tess got the best of her as she walked to the area of the manhole with her owner and she fell 23 feet down the manhole. Normally a fall from a manhole from 23 feet would cause a dog who is in her senior age serious injuries or even passing away. What happened was due to the fact that the floor of the manhole had mud and leaves on the bottom, the fall to the ground did not harm Tess at all. The Portland city employees called 911 to report to the authorities what happened to Tess. The Portland Fire And Rescue firefighters arrived at the scene where the accident happened when the firefighters who placed a harness on the dog to get her out of the manhole safe and sound. That is true since a fall from 23 feet into the bottom of a manhole could have killed Tess.
