Day 253 (Psalms 124:1-8) (A Song of Ascents. Of David.) “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,” Let Israel now say— “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive when their wrath was kindled against us. Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our souls. Then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.” Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Do you remember the playground games of your youth when you chose sides? You wanted specific people on your team because it meant victory. David told Israel God was on their side and because He was, He brought them victory against their enemies. It didn’t matter what their enemies did, God protected them. He blessed God because He kept them safe, and they escaped from every trap their enemy set against them. As Christians, God keeps you safe from every attack Satan brings against you. You only need to make certain you’re on His side. Many times, it seems like He’s not on your side. You face trouble on every side. Satan is unrelenting in his attack against you. However, God never left your side, you left His. He is still beside you to help you in your trouble and protect you from Satan’s attack. You only need to reach out, call on His name, and He will come to your aid. He will destroy your enemy. You only need to trust and believe. Reach out to Him, call on His name, and watch Him work on your behalf. Bless Him because He is on your side. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being on my side, protecting me from Satan’s attacks. When I face trouble, remind me that You will never leave me or forsake me and to reach out to You and call on Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
