Keianna Joe who is 17 years old is making a recovery from a heart attack that she suffered while she was warming up during a cheerleading competition in Raleigh North Carolina with her mates in a Sanford school on Sunday March 12.. Thanks to the care of Keianna's mother Andrea Joe who was there in the venue when her daughter collapsed during the competition by using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to save her from death inside the venue. Keianna who is a student at Western Harnett High School who works as a cheerleader for Sanford at Broughton High School when she collapsed during a sit down period. Andrea used her first aid skills to revive her daughter until the AED machine arrived to shock her body and continued to use CPR until the paramedics arrived to take Keianna to Wake Med and then she was taken to Duke Medical Center where it was revealed that Keianna had suffered a heart attack. Keianna is making a recovery from her health scare at this time. Thanks to the skills of Andrea who has knowledge of CPR, her daughter has a chance to live a life once again. @Rimps85 That is what a lot of sports reporters on the internet are saying that the virus is the cause of the heart problems.

It could be that Keianna has a heart condition when she fell ill.

@rakski Some sports stars do keep their health issues private from the public.

I had heard about the young lady having a heart attack at the competition and am glad to know she is recovering. I suspect it will be discovered that she has some type of congenital heart defect heretofore unsuspected.

A possible heart defect could have been the cause of her heart attack.

@Deepizzaguy It is rare but occasionally we hear the sad news of a youngster die while playing sports.

How scary to have a heart attack at that age. I'm glad her mother knew what to do.
