When Does Lightning Strike People Twice?

Accra, Ghana
March 27, 2023 3:19am CST
Lightning strikes on a person twice can occur, but it is extremely rare. It is estimated that the odds of being struck by lightning once in a lifetime are around 1 in 15,300, and the odds of being struck twice are much higher, at about 1 in 9 million. When lightning strikes a person, it usually takes the path of least resistance through the body, following the nervous and circulatory systems. If a person survives a lightning strike, they may have internal injuries and should seek medical attention immediately. Thanks for reading

Welcome to myLot. I've heard of people being struck by lightning more than once and surviving. Yes, they need to seek medical help immediately.

Thanks for the info. That's why I try not to walk in an open field when it's raining accompanied by lightning because people can be struck by lightning as they are the tallest object in an open field. It's like being electrocuted, so medical attention is truly needed.

This is very interesting. I saw lightning strike a horses ear and bounce to the other one. Weird. He did survive though.

@Wanisheik I am not sure and that vet was puzzled also. I wasn't that close to it. I was sitting on my horse under a tree when my friend came galloping towards the tree. That is when it happened. He was lucky also.
