Day 258 (Psalms 132:1-18) (A Song of Ascents.) LORD, remember David and all his afflictions; how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed. I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.” Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the fields of the woods. Let us go into His tabernacle; let us worship at His footstool. Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy. For Your servant, David’s sake, do not turn away the face of Your Anointed. The LORD has sworn in truth to David; He will not turn from it: “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body. If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony which I will teach them, their sons also will sit upon your throne forevermore.” For the LORD chose Zion. He desired it for His dwelling place. “This is My resting place forever. Here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will shout aloud for joy. There I will make the horn of David grow. I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon Himself, His crown shall flourish.” How many promises do you make and keep? Can people rely on you to do what you say, or do your promises mean nothing? God made promises to His people, and to date, He has kept every one of them. He promised David there would always be a son to sit on his throne. Until Israel became a conquered nation, a son of David sat on his throne. God has not forgotten His promise. One day, another Son of David will sit on Israel’s throne, the KING of Kings and the LORD of Lords, Jesus Christ. As Christians, you know God keeps His promises. You have seen it in your lives. You can trust that what He says, He will do. When was the last time you were as faithful to your promises as God is to His? Do you trust God to work in your life, or do you hope He will? Do you have faith that God will do the same for you as you see in others’ lives? When you KNOW God will keep His promises to you, your faith will increase. You will trust Him to do as He said. You will see His desire in your life and know He will always do what He promises. Where do you stand with your faith? Do you trust Him or do you hope in Him? Let’s pray: Father, increase my faith to trust in Your promises to me. Let me walk in the assurance and knowledge that You will always work in my life to teach me and show me what You desire for me. Then I will know true joy and shout Your praise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 29 March 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
