Day 264
(Psalms 145:1-21) (A Praise of David.) I will extol You, my God, O King, and bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable. One generation will praise Your works to another and declare Your mighty acts. I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men will speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They will utter the memory of Your great goodness, and sing of Your righteousness. The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger, and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works will praise You, O LORD, and Your saints will bless You. They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your power to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD upholds all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works. The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He also will hear their cry and save them. The LORD preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
People give great accolades to people they admire when they get together to honor those who did spectacular things for the common good of all men and women.
David gave a wondrous accolade to God and said he would praise and bless Him every day, forever and ever. He would tell about all God did for him and told how God satisfied the hungry with food, heard their prayers, and preserved those who loved Him. David also said God would destroy the wicked.
As Christians, you know God’s goodness. You know how He satisfies you and takes care of you in every situation. When was the last time you blessed Him for taking care of you? When was the last time you told others what God did for you? Do you open your mouth in praise and bless His name? Or do you remain quiet so that the stones cry out in praise for God’s mighty works?
How can you remain quiet when God does so much for you? David said his praise would always be in his mouth. He would bless God and praise Him every day. Do you praise God every day? Do you bless Him when He comes through for you in the countless ways He takes care of you?
Your praise should always be in your mouth. You should bless God for all His goodness to you. Consider everything God did for you and praise Him for His mighty works in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, I don’t want the rocks to cry out with Your praise. I want to praise You and bless Your name for everything You do for me. Help me see Your goodness to me and praise Your name. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
