Day 266 (Psalms 147:1-20) Praise the LORD! It is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God, who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains. He gives the beast its food and to the young ravens who cry. He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you. He makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest wheat. He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly. He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes; He casts out His hail like morsels; who can stand before His cold? He sends out His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes, and His judgments to Israel. He has not dealt thus with any nation; and as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the LORD! Do you feel special? Do you find favor from those who are over you? Everything seems to go your way. No one can fault what you do. The psalmist told the people to praise God, to extol Him because He deserved praise. God took care of all their needs. He found pleasure in those who feared Him and hoped in His mercy. He took pleasure in Jerusalem and blessed the unborn children. God brought about peace within Israel’s borders. He controlled the weather. He declared His Word, His statutes, and judgments to Israel. God did not do that for any other nation. As Christians, you are special to God. The moment you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, you became His favorite child and He promised to take care of you. God finds pleasure in you when you revere Him and hope in His mercy. Every promise He promised His chosen people, Israel, is yours. He holds nothing back but blesses you with every blessing. Are you walking in His blessing? Do you know God’s favor? Do you praise Him when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night? Is His praise always on your lips? Consider your life, and praise God. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being Your favorite child. Thank you for taking care of all my needs. Let my praise come before You and let it be sweet in Your ears as I bless Your name for all the blessings You give me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
