Day 271 (Proverbs 5:15-18) Drink water from your own cistern and running water from your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice with the wife of your youth. Marriage has gotten a bad rap. People feel trapped with only one person to spend their life with. Instead, they forsake marriage and move from one person to another leaving behind children and single mothers to raise them. Solomon told men to enjoy the blessings of marriage and remain faithful to their wives. He told them not to spread the love around. As Christians, you know the blessing of remaining faithful to your spouse. Your children feel safe in the love you have for each other. Your faithfulness brings God’s blessing to your life. Your children will also know God’s blessing. When you break the covenant you have with your spouse, you not only lose your blessing, but your children no longer feel safe. Marriage is an agreement between you, your spouse, and God. When you make God the center of your marriage, He will bless you and you won’t stray from your spouse. Let’s pray: Father, let Your love bind me to the spouse You chose for me. Let Your love shine through my marriage. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
