These are pictures taken from my windows on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, between 2-3 PM!
We were fortunate at Gateway--although the property got flooded, worse than when we get King Tide floods, the water was gone by the next day unlike lingering with tide floods. Also, the entrance and exit were navigable while many streets not too far from us were blocked off to traffic. We didn't have any electric shortages nor was the water turned off.
Basically, it was just a rainy day during the rainy season in the Sunshine State! And then came Thursday! (To be continued!)
State of emergency declared in Fort Lauderdale as heavy rain drenches South Florida
An epic deluge with over 25 inches of rain hit the Fort Lauderdale area on Wednesday, forcing a closure of the Fort Lauderdale Airport and leaving many parts of the region underwater.

@GreatMartin I listen to this sports show on South Beach and they are always talking about hurricane threats. I remember once, five of the guys were so scared one of forecasted hurricane they literally left the state. That stayed with me. I think that was several years ago, but I couldn't get over feeling the need to evacuate the state. I've always thought you guys were pretty brave.

25 inches of rain is crippling. The most we ever had here was 12 inches; and they declared it a disaster area.

I am very much familiar to that situation as we do get typhoons quite often here.
Stay safe and dry.
