Day 279
(Proverbs 12:25) Anxiety in man’s heart causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.
Many people suffer from anxiety and depression. It causes them to fear interacting with people. Yet, when people are nice to them, they are happy.
Solomon knew that kind words made even the saddest hearts happy.
As Christians, when you speak kindly with people, you cause even the most anxious person to respond with gladness. You will find they want to spend time with you because you are positive and turn their moments of anxiety into joy. People don’t want to interact with those who are anxious and negative about everything. It takes a special gift from the Holy Spirit to break through their anxiety and show them the love of Jesus Christ.
How do you respond to anxious and depressed people? Do you avoid them, or do you try to give them a good day with a smile and a good word?
Let’s pray: Father, help me give a kind word when I encounter anxious people. Let me put a smile on their faces and show them the love of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I know of a person who has bouts of depression, an elderly person. I have been and feel l should call him now and then to try and lighten his mood. However my heart feels heavy whenever l have to call because l don't know what mood he will be in and sometimes l end up feeling sad after speaking to him. However l won't stop calling. .
